About Patrick Bettison
Patrick Bettison started playing the bass when he was eight years old. At age eighteen, he moved to Glasgow, Scotland (he’d grown up in Australia) where began playing jazz with multi-instrumentalist Bobby Wishart, who taught him pretty much everything he needed to know about music (it’s true). After spending eighteen months in Glasgow, he moved to London, continuing to play jazz with Tim Whitehead, Jim Mullen, Julian Arguelles, Steve Arguelles, Django Bates, Gary Husband and many others. After spending eight years in London (the eight years without a summer) Patrick moved to Tampa, Florida (it’s summer all the time there). Since moving to the area he has worked with Gumbi Ortiz, Manfredo Fest, Kenny Drew Jr., Tom Carabasi, playing mostly jazz, Brazilian and Cuban music.
